"When I first heard of Peter D'Adamo's blood group diet, of course I was very skeptical: Should we have missed in our book (Prokop/ Uhlenbruck: Human Blood and Serum Groups) such an important aspect? But years later, my interest switched to the nutritional field while working on the so-called metabolic syndrome, my interest increased in studying the role of genes in metabolic processes. I found out, that Peter D'Adamo's blood group orientated diet could probably be a first step in the right direction. I am afraid that Peter's merits are not estimated enough in the scientific world. Therefore it seems to me necessary, not only to promote his concept here in Europe, but also to tell him that I acknowledge him as one of the most creative scientists in the Western world."

Genetics is a key to unlocking many of the latent healing powers of the body. It allows the physician the ability to treat the patient, not the disease, a tenet of healing wisdom as ancient as its source, the great physician Hippocrates.

Under the guidance of Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo shift patients enjoy the benefits of cutting-edge research and treatment while also receiving compassionate care and support.

Whether you are interested in improving your health by refining the techniques described in Eat Right 4 Your Type, or plan to use our resources to assist you in fighting a chronic disease, The Personalized Medicine Shift at the University of Bridgeport Health Science Center is ready to help.

Our facility blends time-honored natural healing techniques with state-of-the-art diagnostics and proprietary software personally written by Dr. D'Adamo to develop a genetically tailored diet specific for each patient.

The Shift

Fall 2009 marks the beginning of a new ‘Personalized Medicine Shift’ at the Naturopathic Medical Center of the University of Bridgeport’s Health Sciences Center. Supervised by Dr. Peter D’Adamo, the Personalized Medicine Shift seeks to tailor dietary programs to an individual’s unique biochemical needs. Over the course of your visit, Dr. D’Adamo and the six naturopathic interns input the results of physical measurements and laboratory tests into computer software written by Dr. D’Adamo that prints out a detailed diet report compete with meal planner and recipe guide.

A full work-up by the Personalized Medicine Shift lasts about 90 minutes. The new patient visit costs $100 plus the base charge for clinic patients (usually $35-$45). It includes all necessary blood grouping and other genetic testing, all biometric measurements and fingerprinting, urine testing, breath hydrogen testing and body composition analysis. Followup visits are usually 30 minutes long and cost between $35-$45. Supplements, if prescribed, are in addition to visit cost(s). Physicians who refer clients to the shift will receive a full clinical chart report in addition to a full write-up on the client.

The Personalized Medicine Shift sees patients every Friday from 9:30 AM to 1:30PM. To learn more about Personalized Medicine and to arrange an appointment, please contact 203-576-4349.
